Protesters marched down Lake Street in Minneapolis Wednesday night, criticizing President-elect Donald Trump in both Spanish-and English-language chants.
About 200 people gathered around 5:30 p.m. at Nicollet Avenue and Lake Street, eventually heading east down Lake in a peaceful fashion, with a police escort.
The protest was organized by the Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee to oppose deportations, racist attacks and to call for support of sanctuary cities. The rally and march takes place two weeks after similar events in the Twin Cities following the Nov. 8 election.
In a press release, MIRAC also called on President Barack Obama to pardon all immigrants before the inaugural on Jan. 20.
The largest demonstration so far came two days after the election, when thousands forced a closure of Interstate 94 in Minneapolis.
