Donations to the Hormel Institute

- Alex Lenz, 10, of St. Ansgar, Iowa donated $285 from the proceeds of his produce stand, Alex’s Produce, to Research Scientist Yaping Han at The Hormel Institute. Alex’s Produce sells vegetables, pumpkins and gourds throughout the summer and fall near his family’s farm outside St. Ansgar. Alex and his parents LeAnne and Dave Lenz briefly toured The Hormel Institute learning how many chemicals in plants and vegetables are chemopreventive, inhibiting cancer.
David Hagen and Wendy Rolfson of Pheasants Forever present a $2,250 donation to Dr. Shujun Liu and Gail Dennison of The Hormel Institute for breast cancer research supporting the 2017 Paint the Town Pink campaign. Mower County Habitat & Pheasants Forever Chapter #670 raised the funds through its second annual “Hunt for a Cure” event coordinated by Jamie Surdy, chapter president of Pheasants Forever.
David Hagen presents a $4,500 donation from Premier Bank to Gail Dennison of The Hormel Institute for the 2017 Paint the Town Pink campaign supporting breast cancer research. The Hormel Institute, University of Minnesota gives a special thanks to Donald Regan, Mark Novitzki, Corey Heimer, Casey Regan, and Jason Weitzel of Premier Bank and Jerry Anfinson, Treasurer of The Hormel Foundation and David Hagen for their help and support of PTTP.
