Georgene Margaret Sculley, 89 of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Saturday evening, Nov. 5, 2016, surrounded by her loving family at the Lake City Care Center in Lake City, Minnesota. Born March 8, 1927, in Elma, Iowa, she was the daughter of Charles and Frances (Mishak) Klobassa. She graduated from Elma High School in 1945 and attended Cosmetology School in Waterloo, Iowa. On June 9, 1947, Georgene was united in marriage to Ambrose Sculley in Elma. To this union, two children were born, Tom and LuAnne.
The couple operated the Sculley Rest Home for men for 15 and a half years until 1964. Georgene was a cook at Sacred Heart Hospice for 31 and a half years and retired in 1996. She was a member of the Cornerstone Assembly of God Church and was eager to share her passion for the Lord with others. Spending time and playing cards with family were among her favorite pastimes. Georgene will be remembered for being a very loving person, for her gifts of boldness and quick wit, and for her famous homemade bread and baking powder biscuits.
Survivors include her son, Tom (Terri) Sculley of Northwood, Iowa, and her daughter, LuAnne Sculley of Rochester, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Brent (Jenna) Sculley and Rhiannon (Jared) Combs; grandson-in-law Craig Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Ashley Thomas and Donaven and Liric Johnson; and many other wonderful relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Frances Klobassa; her husband, Ambrose; two grandchildren, Dani Johnson and Mike Thomas; six brothers; and two sisters, including her twin sister, Maxine.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church, Austin. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Worlein Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
