Second car not connected to shooting incident at Mandolin

Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger said Tuesday that a second car found damaged by gunshots earlier this month is not connected to an earlier shooting incident.
The car was found on 10th Place Southeast a few days after another car was damaged by shots at the Mandolin Place Apartments, 201 31st St. SW in Austin. The timing of the two incidents raised questions about a possible link between the two.
But Krueger said that it is thought the second car was damaged while it was in Iowa and authorities are working with Iowa authorities on how the car came to be in Austin.
“These are two separate incidents,” he said.
No new leads have been reported on the first incident, which occurred Nov. 13.
Multiple casings from 9 mm handguns were found in the parking lot after residents there reported the sounds of gunshots. Three bullet holes were found in a car parked in the apartment’s lot and another in the wall of the apartment building. No one was injured.
Residents rep orted that two vehicles fled the scene after the shots were fired.
