30-year-old hospitalized after Friday crash

An Austin man was injured Friday in a crash in Freeborn County that was reportedly caused by a winter storm that dropped nearly 3-5 inches across the region.

The 30-year-old, whose name has not yet been released, was transported by Gold Cross Ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin. He was later transported to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. His condition is unknown.

A semi was driving south on Freeborn County Road 26 when it became stuck in the intersection with Freeborn County Road 46 and was struck by a SUV traveling east driven by the man, according to the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched to the crash at 4:05 p.m.

The driver of the semi, a 47-year-old man from Ranger, Texas, was not injured in the crash.

The SUV was deemed a complete loss.

The Minnesota State Patrol, Hayward Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance assisted on scene.

In Mower County, a 2010 Volkswagen rear-ended a 2009 Sterling Snowplow at 1:24 p.m. on Interstate 90.

Noah Eggebratten, 29, of La Cruces, New Mexico, was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin, but his condition was not documented in a State Patrol report.

The snowplow driver, a 36-year-old LeRoy man, was not injured.

Gold Cross Ambulance assisted at the scene.
