A 47-year-old Austin man has been arrested for the robbery of the Apollo III convenience store.
Timothy Gordon Lester was to make his first court appearance Thursday morning in Mower County District Court.
Lester could face an aggravated robbery charge, although details of the formal complaint were not fully known earlier today.
According to Lt. John Mueller of the Austin Police Department, Lester was arrested just after 3 p.m. on Tuesday, one day after the robbery took place.
A video shot circulated after the robbery “was instrumental” in confirming Lester’s identity, Mueller said.
The store, located at 3011 West Oakland Ave., was robbed just before 9 p.m. Monday. The clerk described the suspect as an older white male with a medium build.
The robber allegedly entered the store, which was empty of other customers, and told the clerk “This is a robbery.” He ordered the clerk to the back of the store, took an undisclosed amount of cash from the cash drawer and fled. No one was injured.
