The Austin boys hockey team struggled with consistency as it lost 4-2 at Owatonna (3-2 overall, 1-1 Big Nine) Thursday.
The Packers (3-2 overall, 1-2 Big Nine) seized a 1-0 lead when Jack Dankert scored a shorthanded goal five minutes into the game, but the Huskies would score the next four goals as they led 4-1 after two periods.
“We couldn’t play a full game like we expected to,” Austin head coach Jason Merritt said. “They competed for a period and a half and not the full three periods. We need to capitalize on our chances.”
Jacob Halsey scored his first varsity goal in the third period for Austin and Noah Bawek had 32 saves for the Packers, who had 21 shots.
