The Austin boys hockey team struck first, but they couldn’t keep up the momentum as they lost 7-1 to Rochester Century (2-4-1 overall, 2-3 Big Nine) in Riverside Arena Thursday.

The Packers (3-4 overall, 1-4 Big Nine) took a 1-0 lead in the first period when Kory Potach scored a goal, but the Panthers scored twice in a 20-second stretch to take the lead for good.

“We didn’t play well away from the puck whether we it was offensively or defensively,” Austin head coach Jason Merritt said. “It’s hard to generate offense and keep them from generating offense when we’re not playing well away from the puck.”
