State Rep. Jeanne Poppe, DFL–Austin, has received her committee assignments for the 2017-2018 legislative session, which were announced by Republican House Speaker Kurt Daudt.
For the second straight session, Poppe will serve as the lead DFL member of the Agriculture Finance Committee.
“I’m honored to again have this rewarding responsibility on the committee to look out for our family farmers and keep our state agriculture economy strong,” Poppe said in a press release. “The work done in the agriculture committees is among the most bipartisan in the legislature, and I look forward to working with colleagues on both sides of the aisle on solutions benefitting our state.”
Additionally, she was given slots on the Agriculture Policy Committee — which she chaired in the 2013-2014 session, along with spots on the Capital Investment Committee, which is responsible for crafting a bonding bill, and the Ways and Means Committee, which oversees the state budget.
“While overall, our economy is strong, many Minnesotans are still struggling — especially in greater Minnesota — and we have a great deal of work ahead to provide opportunities for everyone,” she said in a release. “Minnesotans are looking at us to set aside partisan gamesmanship, and focus on the bread and butter issues people are dealing with such as sky-high health insurance premiums, property taxes, high college tuition and deteriorating roads and bridges.”
Poppe will start her seventh term in the Minnesota House when the session begins Jan. 3. She can be reached at the Capitol by phone at 651-296-4193 or email at rep.jeanne.poppe@house.mn.
