Snow emergency lifted; cars still need to be moved – Police issue about 24 tickets

Austin’s snow emergency was lifted on Monday — but there are still cars that need to be moved under the city’s 12-hour parking ordinance.
The ordinance says that cars cannot remain parked on city streets for longer than 12 hours.
Some vehicles have been plowed in, but citizens still need to move them, said Police Chief Brian Krueger.
About two dozen tickets were written over the weekend for those parked illegally during the snow emergency; however, said Krueger, no one was towed.
“The first one (snowfall) catches people off-guard, or they forget,” he said. “We don’t tow anyone the first time.”
