A 36-year-old Austin woman was arrested on a warrant early Friday morning after she was stopped going about 37 mph over the speed limit in Austin.
An officer was out on a routine patrol when he spotted a white SUV driving at a high rate of speed on westbound Oakland Avenue.
The officer estimated speeds at 60 mph in the 30 mph zone, and he was able to clock the SUV going 77 mph after catching up to the SUV, according to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger.
After initiating a traffic stop, the driver, Shelly Jax, told the officer she was “trying to get home.”
She was found to have a warrant for her arrest for violating a harassment restraining order.
She was transported to the jail and could face charges for violating a restraining order and reckless driving.
