A woman facing drug charges after she allegedly entered the jail with 11.4 grams of cocaine hidden in her vagina and more than $800 in her bra after being arrested for driving while intoxicated has pleaded not guilty.
Rachel Ann Thomas, 25, pleaded not guilty Thursday in Mower County District Court to felony third-degree drug possession of 10 grams or more of cocaine, gross misdemeanor third-degree DWI, gross misdemeanor introducing contraband into the jail and a misdemeanor for driving with a suspended license.
According to court records, an officer saw a parked 2003 Dodge Stratus pull into traffic on Fourth Avenue Northeast without headlights or tail lights on at about 1:49 p.m. on Jan. 1.
The officer administered a traffic stop, and found Thomas to have a suspended license.
The defendant appeared intoxicated, and she said she’d consumed a vodka and orange juice. She failed several field sobriety tests, including a breathalyzer.
She was also found to be on probation for a felony drug crime.
She was arrested, transported to jail, denied having any contraband and tested a 0.17 breathalyzer test.
She was searched by a jailer, who found 11.4 grams of cocaine hidden in her vagina and $823 in her bra.
She is scheduled for an April 13 pretrial and April 24 trial.
