The Southland girls basketball team couldn’t close things out as it lost 56-55 to St. Charles (12-9 overall, 9-6 Three Rivers) in Adams Tuesday.
The Saints took the lead for good with 19 seconds left as the Rebels (6-11 overall, 6-8 Three Rivers) missed two shots that would’ve given them the lead on the game’s final possession.
Southland had jumped out to a 13-4 lead to start the game.
“We missed a lot of breakaway lay-ups. We should’ve walked away with this one. We’ve just got to learn to finish,” Southland head coach Dean Bendtsen said. “We felt like we were the better team and we let it get away.”
