Michael J. Langan, 58, of Austin, Minnesota, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, at his home.
Michael James Langan was born Feb. 10, 1958, in Austin, the son of Thomas and Gloria (Lee) Langan. He attended school in Austin, graduating from Pacelli High School in 1977. After graduation, Mike joined the United States Army, serving from 1980 to 1984. After his discharge, he returned to Austin where he was united in marriage to Karlene Kay Bartholomew on Aug. 10, 1985, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. While living in Austin, Mike worked on the kill floor for Quality Pork Processors for 28 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and was a proud supporter of the Geneva Cancer Benefit and the Paint the Town Pink Fishing Contest. Karlene died on Aug. 22, 2007.
Mike is survived by his children, Shannon (Dustin) Fisher of Rose Creek, Minnesota; and Dakota (Abby Prescott) Langan of Austin; his grandson, Maverick Fisher of Rose Creek; his mother, Gloria Langan of Austin; three sisters, Linda (Loren) Abernathy of Martin, South Dakota, Terri (Jeff) Studley of Austin and Chris (Gary) Westland of Glenville, Minnesota; one brother, Jeff (Lynda) Langan of Austin; mother-in-law, LaRena Bartholomew of Austin; sister-in-law, Kimberly (Robert Orr) Horgeshimer of Austin; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Karlene Langan; father, Thomas Langan; two sisters, Gwen and Nancy Langan; father-in-law, Ivan Bartholomew and his grandparents, Patrick “Henry” (Ruby Estelle) Langan and Russel and Agnes Lee.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Karen Behling officiating. Interment with military honors by American Legion Post 91 and VFW Post 1216 will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church.
