Packers take down Mankato East in OT

The Austin girls basketball team was able to come back from an early deficit as it beat Mankato East (6-17 overall, 6-13 Big Nine) 49-41 in overtime in Ove Berven Gym Thursday.

Abby Lewis had 16 points and nine rebounds for the Packers (11-12 overall, 10-10 Big Nine) and she held Mankato East’s Shayla Karge to four points in the second half after Karge had 13 points in the first half.

Austin had trailed 12-2 to start the game.

“We’re definitely playing better at the right time and they’re playing as a team,” Austin head coach Anna Meyer said. “I think the biggest thing is that that we’re making the extra pass.”
