The Concordia Chapel Choir from Concordia College in Moorhead will bring its regional spring tour to Austin.
St. Olaf Lutheran Church is hosting the choir as part of its 150th Anniversary celebration at 7 p.m. tonight.
A blend of more than 90 voices creates the sound of the Concordia Chapel Choir. Originally created to enrich the music of Concordia’s morning chapel services, the ensemble now performs in concert and tours annually. The choir of men and women in their sophomore, junior or senior years, is an integral part of the much-loved annual Concordia Christmas Concerts. They are on their annual spring tour which will bring them to Ortonville, Austin, Rochester and Ham Lake.
The Chapel Choir is under the direction of Michael Culloton, a 1998 Concordia graduate. Prior to coming to Concordia, Culloton was the artistic director of the Choral Arts Ensemble and Honors Choirs, two community organizations based in Rochester, Minn., choral director at Winona Senior High School and assistant conductor of the National Lutheran Choir. Culloton is also the conductor of the Fargo-Moorhead Choral Artists and the Trinity Lutheran Church Cathedral Choir
