Magdalen A. Wencl, 89

Magdalen A. Wencl, 89, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, died Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie.

Magdalen Anne was born on Feb. 5, 1928, in Clinton Falls Township, Steele County, Minnesota to Walter and Mathilda (Schleret) Fisher. She graduated with the class of 1946 from Owatonna High School, and went on later to earn her Licensed Practical Nurse degree. Mag was united in marriage to Raymond Wencl on June 23, 1949, at St. Joseph Parish in Owatonna, and made their home in Blooming Prairie. She was a longtime member of St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie and its Winona Council of Catholic Women.

Mag was also active in the VFW Auxiliary Post 878, and the Blooming Prairie Senior Citizens Center. She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Daniel) Stanley of Prior Lake, Minnesota; five sons, Donald Wencl of Hopkins, Minnesota, Steven Wencl of Blooming Prairie, James (Laurie) Wencl of Forest City, Iowa, Brian (Christine) Wencl of Blooming Prairie, and David Wencl of Mankato, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Michael (Sarah Lay) Wencl, Gregory (Heather) Wencl, Katie (Hernán Llerena) Wencl, Samuel (Katie) Wencl, Douglas Wencl, Travis (Emma) Stanley, and Kristin Stanley; great-grandson Bennett Wencl; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Wencl on Jan. 15, 1976; son, Daniel Wencl; sister, Dorothy Zinda; and parents Walter and Mathilda Fisher.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie with Father Thomas Niehaus officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home, and will continue on Thursday morning for one hour prior to Mass at church.

Memorials in Magdalen’s memory may be directed to the Prairie Manor Care Center, or St. Columbanus Catholic Church. Interment will be in the St. Columbanus Church Cemetery.
