Maurice “Bud” Richard Kroc, 95, of Austin, Minnesota, died Sunday, March 5, 2017, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home.

He was born Sept. 2, 1921, in Mason City, Iowa to Joseph and Loretta (Nugent) Kroc. They moved to Austin when he was a young boy. On Nov. 8, 1941, he was united in marriage to Elinor Kinney.

Bud served in the U.S. Army from March 1943 to December 1945. He retired from Hormel Foods after 40 years of service. He was an avid golfer and golfed to the age of 90. He was a long-time member of the Austin Country Club and was a pro at Ramsey Golf Course. Bud golfed in many city tournaments.

Bud is survived by son, James (Rochelle) Kroc, Austin; grandchildren, Daniel (Amy) Kroc, Nibley, Utah, Kellie (Phil) Scharold, South St. Paul, Minnesota, Jennifer (Steven) Birch, Logan Utah, and Matthew Kroc, South Sioux City, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Georgette Kroc, South Sioux City; sister, Bernadine O’Shaughnessy, Burnsville. Minnesota; nine great-grandchildren; and special friend, Shirly Wickoren

Preceding him in death are his wife, Elinor; sons, Gary and Robert; grandson, Joshua; his parents; brothers, Clement Kroc and Bernard Kroc.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Dale Tupper officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 91.
