Mower gets 7 inches of snow

A winter storm dumped about 7 inches of snow in Mower County.
Snow-covered roadways made travel difficult on Sunday evening and Monday morning as a winter storm moved through the area.
The heaviest snowfall came in northern Iowa, with 8 inches in Charles City and Osage. Spring Valley in Southern Minnesota also reported 8 inches. Rochester International Airport reported 6.5 inches.
Meteorologist Jeff Boyne of the National Weather Service says Mower County was expected to experience a light dusting a light dusting of snow on Monday morning and expected the winter storm warning to expire at 9 a.m.
The forecast for the next few days has highs in the 20s until temperatures return to normal on Thursday. Above normal temperatures will be here by Friday and will continue into next week.
The snow closed Austin Head Start, while Blooming Prairie, LeRoy-Ostrander, Lyle and Hayfield schools were delayed two hours.
Riverland Community College began classes at noon today.
