The fifth annual Power of the Palate fundraiser will be held Friday, May 5, at the Austin Country Club.

The Cinco de Mayo event is a fundraiser for the Backpack Food program in the Austin School District. The backpack program provides additional food for children whose homes may be food insecure.

A silent auction, which will feature a number of unique items, begins at 5 p.m., along with a cocktail social hour, which runs until 6:15 p.m.

After a short program, food stations will be open until 8 p.m. Gourmet food will be serviced up  by three local and area chefs.
