The Packers (2-2 overall, 2-1 Big Nine) plated the winning run on a Winona throwing error in the bottom of the 10th. Austin’s pitchers held the Winhawks in check for the entire night to set up the win.

Nate Murphy pitched seven shutout innings for Austin and Jack Dankert pitched three scoreless innings to get the win.

“It’s good to be on the winning end, no matter how you get it,” Austin head coach Joe Kroc said. “We’ve been solid defensively except for Tuesday and our pitching has been unbelievable. If you field it and throw strikes, you’re going to win games. The guys have shown improvement and this was a big win for us, especially for our confidence.”

Austin committed just one error in the loss.
