The Hayfield softball team opened its season with a 9-5 win over Faribault Bethlehem Academy (1-1 overall) in Hayfield Tuesday.

Carrie Rutledge had a three-run homer in the win for the Vikings (1-0 overall) and Jacie Gustine pitched five and one-thirds scoreless innings to get the win in relief.
