The Riverland Community College baseball team lost 3-2 in heartbreaking fashion to Century College in the Region 13 championship in St. Cloud Monday.
Century won the game when Keegan Macemon hit a walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth inning.
The Blue Devils (32-10 overall) had scored two runs in the top of the eighth when Ian Lopez and Alex Ciola each knocked in a run.
The Blue Devils were coming from the loser’s bracket and would’ve had to of beaten Century to advance to win the tournament.
After beating St. Cloud Tech 9-2 on Friday, RCC lost to Century 5-1 and it beat St. Cloud Tech 4-2 on Sunday to keep its season alive.
Riverland and fellow MCAC squad St. Cloud will now await their fate as the NJCAA decides the at-large bids for the 2017 NJCAA Division III World Series.
