Dale Jay Deethardt

Dale Jay Deethardt, 55, beloved husband of Jennifer Deethardt (nee Hinshaw) went Home to Heaven on May 16, 2017. Dale valiantly battled advanced cancer for two and a half years, yet he was able to enjoy many of his favorite things.

He was born on June 21, 1959, in Fremont, Nebraska, to Max and Rosalie (nee Carlson) Deethardt. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his sister, Donna (John) Stevenson; aunt, Jane Carlson; sister-in-law, Judi Semilot (nee Hinshaw); brother-in-law, Chip (Rosie) Hinshaw; nieces and nephews, Linest Semilota, Christopher Boisette, Wade Semilota, and Kaelyn Hinshaw; and many, many dear friends. Dale spent his life serving others with a humble heart, using his skills and talents to bless the Lord. His passion was for serving those in need, taking many trips to the Dominican Republic to help with church construction and sound equipment installation. He will be dearly missed by family, friends and colleagues.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2017, and from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2017, at Willow Creek Community Church, 67 E Algonquin Road, South Barrington, Illinois 60010. A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. Monday at the church.

Gifts may given in Dale’s name to The Willow Creek Association; The Chicago Botanic Gardens, or The NorthShore Kellogg Cancer Center.
