PRINCETON — Authorities have identified a 14-year-old boy who was shot and killed at his Minnesota home.
Police say they were called to the home in the eastern Minnesota city of Princeton on Monday afternoon. Another 14 year-old boy was at the home.
The victim, Eric Nelson, was identified Tuesday, by his family and Princeton Schools Superintendent Julia Espe. He was an eighth-grader at Princeton Middle School.
Police have provided few details about the shooting.
Eric’s mother, Laurie Blegen-Nelson, says her son was a strong-willed kid with a big heart who loves his three siblings “more than life itself.”
The superintendent says Eric was well-liked by his peers, helpful and kind with a great sense of humor. She says students and staff are devastated.
Princeton is about 50 miles northwest of Minneapolis.
