Pool opens for the season on Monday

The Austin Municipal Pool will open for public swimming at 1 p.m. on Monday.
Our hours are: 1 to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday; 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings; 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
We are hosting some swim meets that will impact some of our week-end hours. We plan to have the splash pad open during these times free of charge. Season membership can be purchased at our office, located in City Hall, or at the pool during open hours. Rates are $30 per person, we do not offer a family pass.
Daily admission is $3 for the afternoon sessions and $2 for the evening sessions, those age 2 and under are free. Everyone entering the pool must purchase a pool membership or pay the daily fee. Register for summer swimming lessons at our office. We offer four two week sessions beginning June 19. Classes are offered from 10 a.m. to noon and 4:45 to 6:45 p.m., Monday through Friday. You may check availability at our office.
Sign up for our water zumba class beginning June 12 at 7 p.m. This class will run 10 weeks, 45 minutes for $35. You may also sign up for “Deep Water Exercise,” which will begin at 10:15 a.m. on June 19 and will run 8 weeks for $28. Both classes will be instructed by Christine Seppanen so don’t be shy. Come on in to our office and sign up!
Riverside Arena
If water is not your thing, you can get a great workout on skates during your lunch hour. Starting June 5, stop in to Riverside Arena 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and skate for just $2 per session. Need skates? They are available for $1.
This is a great calorie burner while you stay out of the sun and cool down on the ice. We will offer this through the summer. July will have some dates which will not be available due to hockey camps.
We will have ice all summer! Think about renting the arena for a skating party, call our office for details at 507-433-1881, a great place to cool down this summer and still get the benefit of some exercise. Make sure to like us on Facebook so you receive up to date information.
Summer rec programs
Our summer recreation programs begin this week! If you are wondering if you can still get in a class, please call our office as we may be able to accommodate your requests. For some of our classes it is easy to add participants. Summer is all about getting outdoors and having some fun!
Jay C. Hormel Nature Center
A few of our nature center classes, which begin soon, still have openings. They include: Nature’s Color Walk on June 27; Nature Detectives with David Stokes on June 19,20 and 21; Nature Photography with John Duren ages 12-14 on June 13 and 14; Survival Week with Derek Barkeim and Dan Block, June 12-16 ages 13-16-plus.

Riverside Arena
Riverside Arena schedule: We will have summer ice. Think about renting the arena for a skating party, call our office for details.
Riverside Figure Skate Club Spring: Summer session is 5 to 7:30 p.m. on June 13 and 5 to 6:30 p.m. on June 14. Check their Facebook page for information.
Adult Open Hockey: 6:45 to 8: 15 p.m. June 14 and 21; 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on June 28. Cost is $6 per person for each event. You must be 16 and goalies are free.
Public skate: 4:30 to 6 p.m. June 15; 7:45 to 9:30 p.m. June 16. The cost is $4 to skate plus $1 if you need to rent skates.
Stick time: 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. June 9 and 23; 6 to 7:30 p.m. June 16. watch Facebook for more.
Free goalie clinic: 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Sunday and 5 to 6 p.m. on June 18.
