Austin CMG All Stars take fifth in Gopher State Tournament

The Austin CMG All Stars finished fifth out of 32 teams in the Gopher State Tournament recently.

After winning their pool play with wins over Big Lake 1-0 in an exciting game, then beat Stillwater 16-1 and Wayzata 9-4. The Stars lost to St. Michael-Albertville in the first round of championship play. Mac Nelson, Peyton Ransom, Nick Robertson, Jared Lillemon and Camden Gilles handled pitching duties.

Lillemon and Gilles led the defense.

“I was pleased with how we played,” said coach Dan Ransom. “Hopefully we can end our season on a high note in the state MSF tourney this weekend.”

The Jays All-Star team saw their season come to an end in state play as they went 1-2.

Tayte Berg, Cale Tupy, Logyn Brooks and Easton Meyer led the hitters. Gahvin Schaefer, Brandon Kuhnke, Berg, Tupy an Meyer pitched. Dane Schara, Ethan Smith, Brody Steinbach, Rob Wicks, and Isaac Anderson contributed.

“The boys had a fantastic and fun season” said Coach Troy Schaefer. “We ended season with a great win.”

The  Eagles All Stars saw their season end in state play in Lakeville. After going 2-1 in pool play, the Eagles won their first game in bracket play before losing out in the second game.

“As we look back on the season, it was a fun filled baseball summer.” said coach Brad Walter. “We had as great tourney in Omaha.”
