An Austin man has been charged after he was arrested for burglary and allegedly wielding a knife on Saturday after the victim trapped him in his garage.
Brandon Ingersoll, 32, was charged with felony first-degree burglary with possession of a dangerous weapon and felony third-degree burglary in Mower County District Court on Tuesday.
According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, officers responded to a report of a burglary at 10:16 p.m. July 15 at the 1200 block of Fifth Avenue Northwest.
The victim said he came home and saw the light on in the garage. He then allegedly saw Ingersoll in the garage loading meat products into a backpack near his freezer.
Ingersoll allegedly grabbed a knife and approached the victim, who closed the garage door, trapping Ingersoll inside.
Officers arrested Ingersoll at Taser point. They noted several packages of meat lying on the floor and a makeshift table with several knives.
Ingersoll is scheduled to appear in court again on July 31.
Ingersoll was arrested in January for allegedly robbing the Austin Daily Herald, and he was charged with felony third-degree burglary in that incident.
