Police confirm they’re investigating report of shots fired

Austin police are investigating a report of gunshots fired in the 800 block of Second Avenue Southwest around 1 a.m. Saturday, Capt. David McKichan confirmed.
He couldn’t release more information as the investigation is ongoing, but McKichan said there was no danger to the public.
Multiple squad cars were on scene, and a vehicle was towed from the area later Saturday morning.
Neighbors in the area reported being awoken by the noise.
“There was a whole volley of shots,” one neighbor said. “There were lighter shots, then two big bangs.”
McKichan said more information could be released Monday morning — which is after the press time for the Herald’s Monday edition.
