A man who allegedly prowled through vehicles in the parking lot of Hoot and Ole’s, an east side Austin tavern, was arrested on Sunday after officers learned of outstanding felony warrants in Texas.

Jeremy Simon Garcia, 19, of Austin is in the Mower County Jail.

According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, officers responded to a call at 7:38 p.m. on Sunday at Hoot and Ole’s.

Garcia told patrons coming out of the establishment that he saw a black male going through vehicles in the parking lot. When Garcia saw him, the man ran into an alleyway, he said.

When police questioned Garcia, officers noticed deception in the story. A search of Garcia’s person produced a new pink iPhone 7 with a female’s picture on the screen. When police asked Garcia what the number to the phone was, Garcia told the officers he did not want to talk anymore.

Police ran Garcia’s name through the system and discovered he had outstanding drug and aggravated robbery warrants in Texas.

Garcia was cited for tampering with vehicles and driving without a valid license. He was arrested and taken to jail.
