Adams town hall meeting to focus on healthcare

Adams residents have been invited to a town hall meeting tonight to meet the new regional vice president of Mayo Clinic Health System-Southeast Minnesota region, or air any healthcare concerns they may have.
Dr. Annie Sadosty will be the physician leader for Mayo Clinic’s community practice in southeast Minnesota, a region that includes hospitals and clinics in Albert Lea and Austin, as well as other hospitals.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Adams City Hall.
Earlier this summer, Mayo officials extended an invitation to Adams Mayor Nancy Thalberg to meet Sadosty. Mayo also invited any others who might provide input, according to Kathleen Harrington, division chairwoman of Government Relations at Mayo Clinic. As the circle grew wider, it was decided to have the meeting in a town hall setting.
Thalberg said she did not believe a community rumor that Mayo was closing the Adams clinic.
“I think that stems directly from the Albert Lea situation,” said Thalberg, referring to the controversy that arose when Mayo announced in June it would bring inpatient services and hospitalizations to Mayo Health Systems in Austin from its Albert Lea facility. Albert Lea will be home to all behavior health services and its clinic.
Harrington said the expanded meeting, “which we respect and support,” was a good chance to provide officials with any concerns or questions.
