Agnes E. Lerud, 92, of Austin, Minnesota, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at her home.
Agnes Evelyn Lysne was born March 19, 1925, in Mower County, Minnesota, to Oscar and Hilda (Luthe) Lysne. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. On March 16, 1941, Agnes was united in marriage to Harlan Lerud. The couple raised five sons. Agnes enjoyed her role as wife, mother, and homemaker. The Leruds lived their entire married life in Austin. Agnes was a good cook and loved to bake and share recipes. She also enjoyed dancing. Agnes was very considerate of others, and never missed a Lysne family reunion. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her sons, Gary (Trudy) Lerud of Albert Lea, Minnesota, and Dean (Rose Nelson) Lerud, Wayne (Victoria) Lerud, Tim (Joani Halverson) Lerud, and Michael Lerud, all of Austin; five grandchildren, Darrin (Francine) Lerud, Emily (Kipp) Hardison, Leonda Lerud, Lisa (Derry) Sutter, and Leslie Lerud; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Esther (James) Dalager of Austin, Maxine Perendy of Mankato, Minnesota, Eugene (Barbara) Lysne of Albert Lea, Donna Symes of Austin, James (Beverly) Lysne of Owatonna, Minnesota, and Sharon Johnson of Geneva, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Selma Lysne of Austin; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harlan Lerud in 1993; her brother, Harvey Lysne; and sisters, Edna Potter and Barbara Ramsey.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, 2017, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin with Pastor Mark Niethammer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
