Austin boys basketball team set for Pacesetter tournament

The Austin boys basketball team will compete in the 27th annual Pacesetter Sweet Sixteen basketball tournaments, in which leading varsity teams from each of the four classes compete in a one-class tournament in St. Joseph, Minn. this weekend.

Games will be held Saturday and Sunday and the championship game is 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

There will also be third, fifth, and seventh place games and a consolation championship.

In the boys tournament, the pairings at 10 a.m. Saturday are Cretin-Derham Hall vs. Springfield, Mayer Lutheran vs. Austin, St. Thomas Academy vs. Cedar Mountain-Comfrey, St. Cloud Cathedral vs. Park Center and Apple Valley vs. Waconia. The pairings at 11:20 a.m. Saturday are Ada-Borup vs. Breckenridge, Rushford-Peterson vs. Hopkins and Orono vs. Minneapolis North.

Pacesetter invites teams expected to be highly-ranked in each of the classes, and four from each class are included in the tournaments.
