Austin man charged for drugs and firearm

An Austin man is in police custody after police found 5.8 grams of methamphetamine and a nine-millimeter firearm in his home.
Jesse Deane Kranz, 32, was charged with felony fifth-degree drug possession, felony violent felon in possession of a firearm and felony violent felon in possession of firearm ammunition in Mower County District Court on Monday.
According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, Austin police, Mower County Sheriff’s deputies, members of the Austin/Mower Special Incident Response Team and the Southeast Minnesota Violent Crimes Enforcement Team arrested Kranz after executing a search warrant on his residence at 7:22 a.m. Friday in the 1900 block of First Avenue Northeast. Police found the drugs and the weapon inside.
The investigation is ongoing.
Kranz will appear in court on Aug. 14.
