The Mower County Recorder’s office will continue to digitize documents, thanks to approval of a contract by the Mower County Board of Commissioners.
The board on Tuesday stamped its approval on a $70,594 contract with U.S. Imaging, Inc.
County Coordinator Craig Osacarson said the allocation will allow the office to continue digitizing its official records. The county recorder’s office maintains vital records, such as birth, death and marriage files, and a variety of other transactions, such as deeds, mortgages, liens, and related papers that are handled in Mower County.
“She (county recorder Jill Cordes) has records that go all the way back to 1858,” with some documents, said Commissioner Jerry Reinartz.
Oscarson said payment will be made from a special fund.
In other business, the board:
• CRWD: Approved a conditional use permit for the Cedar River Watershed District that allows grading and placement of fill exceeding 50 cubic yards on shoreland or floodplain, located in Austin Township. Adjacent property owners have not disapproved.
• Authorized the Environmental Services Supervisor to apply for base and incentive grants to pay for compliance inspections and addressing unsewered areas of the county.
