The Lyle-Pacelli football team lost its season opener to Sleepy Eye-Saint Mary’s (1-0 overall) 44-14 on the road Thursday.

Bryce Strouf had 184 all-purpose yards in the loss for the Athletics and Patrick Murphy had two rushing touchdowns.

The Athletics (0-1 overall) will play Spring Grove in Art Hass Stadium Sept. 8.
