The Salvation Army will assist Mower County families that have children in kindergarten to 12th grade, with up to two changes of clothing and basic school supplies, including a backpack.

To apply for assistance, the head of the household needs to be present at the Salvation Army from 1 to 4 p.m. on Aug. 28, or from 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 29.

The head of the household should bring identification and verification from the school for each child whose assistance is being requested. This can be a school ID, a free lunch acceptance letter, a school schedule and so on.

Those who have not used assistance from the Salvation Army since 2015 need to fill out a new client form and sign a release. They will need to show identification and have verification of each family member, including adults.

Those with questions about whether they are on file should contact the office at 507-437-4566, prior to distribution.
