Those who give blood or platelets during the month of September with the American Red Cross will receive a free haircut coupon for Sport Clips Haircuts.

The coupon is valid through Nov. 11.

Type O negative and type O positive are both critically needed following a summer blood shortage, according to the Red Cross.

There are three opportunities to give in September in Mower County:

Donations can be made in Austin from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin; and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, at the Mower County Senior Center.

Residents can donate in Adams from 1 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7, at the Adams American Legion.
