An Austin man has pleaded not guilty in Mower County District Court to two counts of felony domestic assault and misdemeanor open bottle after being accused of throwing objects at a woman during an argument.

A pre-trial for Dean Allan Vatnsdal, 34, is set for Oct. 13.

According to the court report, police responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 500 block of Seventh Street Northeast. A woman outside the residence told police she and a friend wanted to go to a casino, but Vatnsdal did not want them to go. She said Vatnsdal threw objects at her, some of which struck her. She expressed fear of Vatnsdal and said he had been “drinking all day.”

Police found Vatnsdal nearby in his car. He denied her claims. Police arrested him and allegedly found an open bottle of vodka in the front passenger seat of his vehicle.
