Gerard Academy announces promotion; Danielson to guide clinical programs

Kristin Danielson, has been named clinical director at Gerard Academy in Austin.
Danielson was Gerard’s clinical supervisor until being named to her new post.
She has been with the academy since 2008, and before that, worked with Gerard Treatment Programs of Mason City, Iowa, from 1992 to 2006.
In her new position, Danielson will direct and supervise the management of Gerard clinical programming and activities.
She will also function as a Nexus management team member, representing Gerard.
Gerard Academy Associate Director Karen Wolf said, “Kristin brings keen leadership skills, a strong clinical direction, and great knowledge of our program and working with youth and families. I am very excited for her to be in this position, and I look forward to working closely with her.”
Danielson has extensive experience in multiple roles in child behavioral care, serving as a child and family therapist, clinical supervisor, clinical program manager, and associate and clinical director during her tenure at Gerard Treatment Programs of Iowa.
She received her master’s degree from Mankato State University in community counseling and is a licensed professional clinical counselor in the state of Minnesota.
She has received training in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, adoptions (PACC certified), Motivational Interviewing, and is knowledgeable in working with youth and families who have experienced trauma, especially sexual, physical and domestic abuse.
Other areas of expertise include Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder, grief and loss, anger management, mood disorders, attachment, and adoptions.
