An officer spoke to Trimble, who said the woman was “freaking on” him and that he grabbed her arms after she began “lunging” at him. He said he asked her to stay the night because she was drunk and that she punched him because she could not find her phone.

The officers saw the woman had a swollen lip, a cut on her left arm, bruises on both biceps and abrasions on her knees. Trimble said the bruises were from him holding her down by her arms while she was “flailing” and the cut was from his fingernail. He said she kicked him a couple of times, but officers saw no sign of injury.

The woman told police that she and Trimble had previously been in a relationship but were now just friends. She said he got upset because she wanted to go home and believes he was angry because she was dating another man. She said when she came into his apartment, he pushed her against the wall and called her a vulgar name, after which she pushed him away.

Trimble has previous convictions for fifth-degree assault and domestic assault.
