Nature center announces September programs

The following programs are on deck at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center in September.
At 7 p.m. on Monday, Pheasants Forever biologist Laura Merten will present “Quality Homes for Wildlife,” a talk that will examine the relationship between animals and their habitat and discuss the importance of quality habitat to wildlife populations.

At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19, Nature Center naturalist intern, Savanna Dahl, will present, “Cranes of the World” at the Interpretive
Center.
Come learn aboutthe 15 species of cranes found around the world and the work being done to ensure their survival.

Chris Anderson will lead a
walking meditation class
from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17. This free program will help participants learn how to practice awareness of the present moment by exploring several methods of walking peacefully in nature. The class will be held rain or shine and take place in Ruby Rupner Auditorium and on the Nature Center’s trails. Kay Middlebrook will be leading “Nature Yoga” a 6:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 25 and going through Oct. 30, for ages 12 through adult. Explore your sense of balance and calm while connecting with the nature around you. The class will be held in the Ruby Rupner Auditorium and requires comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and a yoga mat, if you have one. This class series is free and open to the public, but donations are welcome. Please join for one session or all six!
