Darcy Marie Simmons, 36, of Austin pleaded guilty to felony domestic assault by strangulation as part of a plea agreement on Monday in Mower County District Court. Simmons initially pleaded not guilty to the charge in May.

According to the court report, police responded to a call on April 30 in the 300 block of 12th Avenue Southwest. The victim and a male witness said they had arrived at the residence and Simmons was intoxicated.

Simmons told the victim to give up her car keys, but the victim refused because Simmons was drunk. Simmons then grabbed the victim by the throat and pinned her against the walls, choking her for about 15 seconds before the male witness intervened.
