A professor from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul will speak about nonviolent resistance as a tactic for overcoming entrenched oppression in Austin on Saturday, Oct. 14.
Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer, a professor of justice and peace studies, former political candidate and an experienced activist, will speak at 10 a.m. at the annual Dilley Symposium on the second floor of the Austin Arts Center, 300 Main St. N. Nelson-Pallmeyer will present evidence that good ends require good means and that, even, violent adversaries are best persuaded by nonviolent resistance that employs tools of love and sacrifice to achieve peace, according to a news release.
This is the third annual symposium dedicated the memory of Terry Dilley, a community educator and mentor to several generation of Austin community college students. Refreshments will be served.
