Austin volleyball team swept out of the postseason by Spartans

The No. 11 seeded Austin volleyball team had its season come to an end as it was swept by No. 6 Rochester Mayo (15-13 overall) by scores of 25-14, 25-22, 25-16 in Rochester Wednesday.
Austin (4-22 overall) trailed 24-19 in the third game when it scored three straight points to close the gap, but it wasn’t able to complete the comeback.
Sophomore Avery Thompson had six kills for Austin.
Austin head coach Cindy Owen said the Packers were a solid group to coach this season.
“The kids have been great to work with,” Owen said. “They worked hard and we’re going to miss the seniors. They provided great leadership.”
