The LeRoy-Ostrander football team clinched its best finish in a decade when it beat Lyle-Pacelli (0-7 overall) 36-6 in Lyle Friday night.

The Cardinals (4-3 overall) kept the ball on the ground in soggy conditions as Sean Lohuis ran for 120 yards and to TDs.

“It got wet, slippery and slimy,” LO head coach Aaron Hungerholt said. “It was tough to throw the ball, but our line was blocking well and we were running well.”

The win gives the Cardinals their first four-win season since 2007 and it comes just two years after LO shut down its varsity program and as it only played JV games in 2015.

“It’s been great for the boys,” Hungerholt said. “A couple of years ago we took that varsity season off so these guys could get older and works on things. That paid off and our program’s going in the right direction tonight.”
