City waiting on state permits for new slide

Residents driving by the Austin Municipal Pool have probably noticed the slide is gone.

The 104-foot long slide that has been landmark at the pool since it was first installed in 1986 was removed in September. Workmen took the last pieces away on Sept. 19.

Austin Parks and Recreation Director Kim Underwood said the slide will be replaced. She did not go into details as the permits are still awaiting approval by the State of Minnesota.
