Merle D. Nelson, 92, passed away Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at St. Marks Lutheran Home.

Merle was born Nov. 6, 1924, in Nevada Township to Helmer and Ronelia (Easton) Nelson. He graduated from Rose Creek (Minnesota) High School in 1943 and served in the Philippines during World War II. On Aug. 6, 1950, he married Mary Ann Dahle at Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams, Minnesota.

Merle farmed his entire life and also worked at the Austin Farm Center and later at Huntting Elevator. He was a member of Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church and the American Legion. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, camping, and playing cards.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann; son, Mark; brothers, Dale and Arden; sister-in-law, Elaine Nelson; and his parents.

Merle is survived by his daughter, Lori (Dale) Siegfreid, Austin; sons, Neil (Leslie) Nelson, Richfield, Minnesota, and Bryce (Kellie) Nelson, Rose Creek; daughter-in-law, Michelle Nelson, Auburn, Washington; grandchildren, Brock Nelson, Adam (Kimberly) Nelson, Sarah Nelson, Joseph Siegfreid, Laura Siegfreid, Kailey (Ryan) Soller, Maggie Nelson, Aaron Nelson (Lisa Carrigan), and Kyle Nelson; five great-grandchildren; brother, Roger (Barbara) Nelson, Litchfield, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Diane Nelson, St. Cloud, Minnesota; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, at Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church with the Rev. Scott Meyer officiating. Interment will be at Six Mile Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and at the church on Saturday one hour before the service.
