NHS inducts 25 new members at Austin High School

The National Honor Society at Austin High School inducted 25 new members on Oct. 23 during its annual ceremony.
These new members include Sarah Bachmeier, Jenna Braaten, Emily Eich, Signe Fadness, Sarah Hillson, Eleanor Hinchliffe, Henry Hinchcliffe, Lily Holtz, Maia Irvin, Thomas Kroymann, Jenna Krueger, Madison Lang, Brock Lawhead, Abby Lewis, Adrianna Meiergerd, Tarik Merzkani, Nathan Meyer, Ian Murphy, Kassidy Oldenkamp, Madyson Palumbo, Gideon Perez, Hannah Ryks, Claire Staben, Ryan Walters, and Katie Willrodt.
Along with the first-year members, returning members were also celebrated and include: Kellie Baier, Lauryn Bell, Jennifer Boyle, Michael Carroll, Elizabeth Christenson, Isaac Christopherson, Katie Condit, Teddi Eisenberg, Kelsey Feuerhak, Trinity Gray, Madison Hasley, Emily Hegna, Berghyn Hull, Courtney Kusick, Isabel Leuer, Sydney Marsh, Mitchell Mayer, Lilly Nystel, Halie Retterath, Emily Sayles, Abigail Schammel, Paiton Schwab, Nicole Summerfield, Kristina Thorson, Tara Watkins, and Samuel Woodhouse.
The National Honor Society is a nationwide organization dedicated to recognizing outstanding high school students and to better them in the process. Members follow four important attributes: strong scholarship, giving back to the community, leading, and building character.
Within the organization, hundreds of hours of service have been given back to the community, strong leadership skills are demonstrated every day, and students show a high desire for academic achievement by maintaining more than a 3.6 grade point average.
Austin High School is proud to congratulate all inductees and returning members into the National Honor Society.
Trick-or-Treating for cans of food
The National Honor Society will be trick-or-treating for nonperishable food donations for the local Salvation
Army Food Shelf on Halloween night.
