Police found several boys playing along the railroad tracks near the Milwaukee Road Depot after responding to a call of kids with a firearm on Sunday.
According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, officers responded to the call in the 300-400 block between 10th Street Northeast and 11th Street Northeast at 12:18 p.m. on Sunday.
Officers found four boys, ages 11-13, running along the railroad tracks toward Jim’s SuperValu. The officers confronted the boys, but did not find a firearm on any of them. One of the boys said it may have been left on a railroad tie. Officers searched the area with negative results.
One of the boys, age 12, had two distinct wounds consistent with a BB or pellet gun on his upper ankle.
All four were returned to their parents and advised on the dangers of playing with firearms, even BB or pellet guns.
